The Yellowstone Research Library maintains a small collection of Book Club Kits for patron use. These kits include several copies of the same book (the number of books varies by title, see below), discussion questions, bookmarks, and a tote bag to keep it all together. Book Club Kits can be checked out for 30 days and can be renewed if there is no waiting list. See below for instructions on requesting Book Club Kits.

Black Elk Speaks

Neihardt, an American poet and writer, relates the story of Black Elk, an Oglala Lakota medicine man. Black Elk spoke in Lakota and Black Elk's son, Ben Black Elk, who was present during the talks, translated his father's words into English. Neihardt made notes during these talks which he later used as the basis for his book.
